Solihull has a population of just a couple hundred thousand, but it is frequently voted as one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom and has a wealth of restaurants, tearooms and other exciting venues for locals and tourists alike. In this short guide we’ll review the very best afternoon tea locations in Solihull, looking at everything from the finest hotels to the most unusual tearooms.
Award-Winning Afternoon Tea at Hogarths
One of our favourite spots for afternoon tea in Solihull, Hogarths has won awards for its home-made breads and buns, both of which feature in its high tea selection. There are finger sandwiches, stuffed buns and more, and these are served with the usual selection of scones (with clotted cream and jam) and sweets.
It’s all very reasonably priced as well, with cream tea at Hogarths costing you just £25 per person, or £6 more if you want to add a splash of sparkling wine to your selection. They have special cream teas available for Father’s Day, Easter and even Wimbledon. All these special cream teas are the same price per person, but you will need to book well in advance to avoid missing out.
Traditional Fare at Becketts Farm
This is traditional afternoon tea at its very best. This is a carvery of sorts come Sunday and the rest of the time it’s also big on coffee, but from 3pm through to 5pm it’s all about afternoon tea. This is served in their award-winning dining room for just under £20 per person.
This low price gets you sandwiches including cheese and onion, salmon and watercress, turkey and cranberry and beef and horseradish. There are some usual and unusual selections there (for afternoon tea, anyway), but the tea is a little more traditional, as are the fruit scones and sponge cakes.
All in all, this is a great way to sample some of the finest food in the area.
Classy Cream Tea at the Laura Ashley Tearoom
There are a few great options for afternoon tea in Solihull and there are some great options just outside, but we’re keeping it within the boundaries here. And when we do that Laura Ashley Tearoom comes out on top nearly every time.
The Laura Ashley Tearoom, as you might expect is decorated in a signature Laura Ashley style, which provides surroundings that are both cozy and refined. Everything on the menu at the Laura Ashley Tearoom is homemade, including the cakes and the scones. There is also a selection of tea and coffee to wash it all down with.
They have herbal teas, black teas and more, including relaxing teas like chamomile and refreshing teas such as green and white tea.
Not too far from the city of Birmingham, the Laura Ashley Tearoom is located in the Regency hotel, a hotspot for tourists to the city. So if you find yourself staying in the hotel then be sure to drop by this popular haunt for a spot of cream team.
